For KM Hotels, staying ahead means keeping technology aligned with brand standards while managing service delivery, budgets, and vendor performance across dozens of dynamic environments—all with lean internal resources.

When building or transitioning a hotel, timing is everything. If elevator lines or fire alarm circuits don’t go live in time for inspections, opening day gets delayed. If voice and internet services aren’t negotiated and deployed ahead of brand audits, KM risks non-compliance penalties or guest experience issues.

Adding to the challenge, each transition—whether a purchase, sale, or new build—requires coordination with multiple third parties: local providers, brand-mandated services, and KM’s own Managed IT Services firm. With limited internal IT staff, these logistics often fell on local General Managers—creating inconsistent execution, missed start dates, and unnecessary expenses.

KM Hotels needed a partner who could handle every piece of the service lifecycle—from procurement and timing to negotiation and communication—so their hotels could launch and operate without delay or distraction.

KM Hotels partnered with Norfolk Fiber to take control of their telecom lifecycle across the portfolio. Norfolk Fiber stepped in to handle procurement, service timing, provider negotiation, and project coordination for every new construction, acquisition, or disposition.

From ensuring alarm and elevator lines were installed and inspected ahead of schedule, to pushing start dates for costly services until just before occupancy, Norfolk Fiber aligned every contract with construction and operational timelines. We also negotiated internet, voice, and infrastructure pricing—often beating the rates available directly from the hotel brands.

Norfolk Fiber worked directly with KM’s Managed IT Services Provider to coordinate IP addresses, phone numbers, and system handoffs, eliminating confusion and preventing launch-day issues. We also managed contract renewals, handled all escalations with service providers, and provided ongoing lifecycle support across every KM property—freeing up local GMs and reducing the burden on corporate staff.
